The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has razed 12 chimneys and furnesses of gold and silver smelting units in C-ward in South Mumbai for causing air pollution, an official release said. Action was taken against units in Patwa Chawl and Teli Galli localities, and similar action against polluting units in the city and suburbs will continue, it said.

Mumbai news live updates: Police seek to close MSC Bank scam case where Ajit Pawar was among accused
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police on Friday sought to close a case related to an alleged Rs 25,000 crore scam at the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank in which Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was among the accused. Special public prosecutor Raja Thakre filed a `C summary` report before R N Rokade, special judge for cases against MPs and MLAs. The court will hear the matter on March 15.
