Mumbai logged 365 new coronavirus cases and two fresh deaths, while 528 more patients recovered from the infection, the city civic body said. With these additions, the overall COVID-19 tally rose to 11,20,537, while the death toll increased to 19,629, said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation`s (BMC) in a bulletin.

No `super CM` in Maharashtra, says Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said there was no "Super CM" in the present Eknath Shinde-led government. Some opposition leaders have claimed that though Shinde is chief minister, it is Fadnavis who is calling the shots.

"There is no concept of super CM in the present government. We have only one chief minister and that is Eknath Shinde. We are working under his leadership. But some people can`t digest this. They should get used to be in the opposition now," the BJP leader said, speaking to reporters.

Maharashtra: 35 deaths reported in Marathwada since onset of monsoon

As many as 35 people have died in Maharashtra`s Marathwada region since the onset of monsoon on June 1, an official said. According to a report from the divisional commissioner`s office, of the 35 fatalities, 24 were due to lightning strikes, 10 due to drowning and one was because of wall collapse

The monsoon session of Maharashtra legislature, slated to begin on July 18, has been postponed, a senior official said. The new dates of the session will be announced shortly, Principal Secretary of the state legislature Rajendra Bhagwat said.
