Maha: Shiv Sena MLA Rahul Patil clears air, says not joining rebels

Amid reports that he has gone incommunicado, Shiv Sena MLA from Parbhani in Maharashtra, Rahul Patil, on Monday said he is in Mumbai and won`t join the Eknath Shinde camp. "False news is being spread about me to create unrest among people. I have no plans to join Eknath Shinde in Guwahati. I am in Mumbai," Patil. (PTI)

Senior leaders of Congress and NCP met Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday, hours after the Supreme Court kept in abeyance the disqualification proceedings before the Assembly Deputy Speaker till July 11 and sought responses to pleas by rebel MLAs questioning the legality of notices seeking their disqualification. Mumbai sees 1,062 Covid-19 cases, toll rises by five for second consecutive day

Mumbai on Monday reported 1,062 Covid-19 cases and five fatalities, taking the tally to 11,08,433 and the toll to 19,604, a civic official said. The metropolis had reported five deaths on Sunday as well, which took the total number of fatalities in June so far to 38, a manifold rise from three in May and four in April, he pointed out. The five deaths comprised four women above the age of 66 and a 78-year-old man, all of whom were suffering from comorbidities, including heart disease, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said.
