A youth in Navi Mumbai was subjected to violent assault after a fight with an unidentified tanker driver which also involved others. The incident left the 21-year-old with serious injuries. The victim of the attack, which happened in the Turbhe neighbourhood early on Monday, is in critical condition.

A conflict resulted from the altercation between the victim and the tanker driver, according to Turbhe police station officials. The young man was allegedly attacked by the tanker driver and a gang of ten to twelve people who were carrying iron rods and sticks, a report in PTI added.
According to the report, the youth who resided in Seawoods in Navi Mumbai was seriously injured during the assault. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he is now in serious condition due to the severity of his injuries.
A case has been filed against the unidentified assailants under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 141, 143 (unlawful assembly), and 147 (rioting), according to the official, the PTI report further stated.
Authorities are actively engaged in efforts to locate and apprehend the individuals involved in the assault, the report further added.
Meanwhile, in another unrelated incident, police from Palghar filed an offence against four people for allegedly abducting and abusing a tribal man. The official, according to the PTI report, stated that a first information report (FIR) has been filed at the Koregaon police station in Satara per the pertinent provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1976, and the Scheduled Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976, in response to a complaint.
According to the official, four people, including the superintendent of a sugar mill, have been named in the case, but no one has been taken into custody as of yet.
Reportedly, the four accused beat up the victim Krishna Nagde (40) who is a worker in Satara sugar factory. Between October 10, 2023, to January 8, workers in various sugar mills were not paid their dues and some fled. Believing Nagde had assisted them in fleeing, the accused held him captive and physically assaulted him.
