The Bombay High Court will give its verdict on the re-testing application of the narcotic drug Mephederone, known by its street name Meow Meow, on Friday. The application, filed by the Crime Branch, seeks to challenge the Narcotic Drug and Psychotic Court order that refused permission to them to retest the drug.

In March last year, the Satara police had arrested head constable Dharmaraj Kalokhe of the Marine Drive police station, and seized 112 kg of Mephedrone from his Satara home.

The Mumbai Crime Branch also seized 12 kg of the same drug from the constable's locker at Marine Drive. Kalokhe had revealed the drug was supplied to him by Baby alias Shashikala Patankar, which also led to the latter's arrest in the case. The Crime Branch was left red faced after the Kalina Forensic laboratory sent a report certifying the substance as ajinomoto.

The Crime Branch's application for retesting the samples was denied by the NDPS court in August. The Crime Branch then applied for permission to appeal against the verdict in October last year. The matter is likely to be heard on Friday.
