Following the Ulhasnagar firing incident in which a BJP MLA allegedly fired at a Shiv Sena faction leader in a police station, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Clyde Crasto slammed Devendra Fadnavis, calling him a failing Home Minister and demanded his resignation.

The incident took place at Hill Line Police Station in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, where BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad allegedly opened fire on Shiv Sena politician Mahesh Gaikwad. Crasto expressed alarm about Maharashtra's deteriorating law and order situation, citing recurring disputes between the ruling BJP and Shiv Sena, per ANI.

According to the report, Clyde Crasto voiced concern about a public representative holding a handgun and firing on an ally inside a police station. He requested Fadnavis, who is currently the Home Minister, to stand down, citing the state's deteriorating status. Crasto also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Shinde, emphasising the need for accountability.

"This incident happened inside the police station. After hearing this, it seems that the times ahead in Maharashtra are going to be very terrible. There is a fight between the two ruling parties - BJP and Shiv Sena. The law and order situation in Maharashtra has become terrible. Be it Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, what is our Home Ministry doing? Devendra Fadnavis is a failed home minister," Crasto told ANI.

He further stated, "Eknath Shine is probably silent due to some compulsion. A man from his party was shot. If there is any self-respect, Devendra Fadnavis should resign and also CM Shinde should leave the government."

An eyewitness stated that Mahesh Gaikwad and one of his followers were injured by five bullets during the confrontation, according to an ANI report.

According to the report, the two Gaikwads have been engaged in a land dispute for the past year and the shooting has exacerbated tensions. Per ANI, the incident happened in the cabin of Senior Inspector Anil Jagtap of Hill Line Police Station.

"Mahesh Gaikwad and Ganpat Gaikwad had differences about something, and they came to the police station to make a complaint. At that time, they talked, and Ganpat Gaikwad fired at Mahesh Gaikwad and his people. Two people have been injured in this. An investigation is underway," Sudhakar Pathare, DCP, told ANI.
