Outside the house, an MLC from Nashik, Satyajeet Tambe, narrated his woes on social media on Tuesday. “My respect for Mumbaikars has grown manifold,” he said, after he quit the road journey to travel by suburban train to reach Vidhan Bhavan on Monday.

Travelling from Nashik, bumper to bumper traffic hit Tambe near Bhiwandi from where he reached Kalyan after three long hours. “A friend advised me to take a local train from Kalyan to reach Mumbai. However, it took me another three hours to cover a 30-minute drive from Bhiwandi bypass to Kalyan station from where I finally boarded an AC local,” said the young MLC, saluting the resilience of Mumbaikars for whom such harrowing experiences are a routine.

“Today my respect for all the people living in Panvel-Palghar, Kalyan-Dombivli and all the areas of Mumbai Metropolitan Region has increased tremendously. How patient the citizens are!” wrote Tambe on social media, and highlighted the lack of infrastructure around Mumbai. “The infrastructure around Mumbai is overburdened, which is affecting the quality of life of the people living in these cities. Despite all this, the people of the city are still very tolerant,” he added.
