Two persons were arrested and a minor was detained for alleged possession and transportation of beef worth Rs 1.67 lakh in separate seizures in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI.

Some persons were caught unloading beef from a tempo at MHADA colony in Bhiwandi town around 5 am on Friday, an official told news agency PTI.
The police seized 200 kg of the meat, worth Rs 1.2 lakh, from the tempo and arrested its driver Mohammad Avesh Karimullah Ansari (26), the official told PTI.
An offence has been registered with the Nizampura police station of Bhiwandi division, the official told PTI.
Similarly, the police intercepted a two-wheeler in Kacheripada area on Friday morning and caught a meat shop owner and a minor boy transporting 75 kg of beef, the official told PTI.
Juned Kallu Qureshi (19) was arrested for possession of beef worth Rs 47,000, while the minor was detained, he said, adding that a case has been registered against them at Shanti Nagar police station, the official told PTI.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested a couple and rescued three women involved in a sex racket in the Kashimira area of Maharashtra's Thane city, an official told PTI on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, the MBVV police's anti-human trafficking cell (AHTC) conducted a raid at the Hatkesh locality of Kashimira on Wednesday afternoon and caught a couple and three women, senior inspector Sameer Ahirrao told PTI.
The police had received information that the couple allegedly ran a sex racket under the pretext of organising dance shows. They would send photographs of women to customers on WhatsApp, he said.
The accused allegedly took the women outside the state to Goa and Bengaluru in Karnataka, and also to Lonavala, Mumbai, Thane and Mira-Bhayander, the official told PTI.
The police arrested Ayan alias Mohammad Shahrukh Khan and his wife Jyoti alias Rehan Sultana and rescued three women, the official told PTI.
An offence under section 370 (human trafficking) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Immoral Traffic Prevention (PITA) has been registered against the duo.
