Here’s how the platform at the always-crowded Thane station is being widened by 2 to 3 metres in 63 hrs flat

Around 785 Lego-like blocks, military battle tank wagons, dry runs and rehearsals. Knowing well that widening an existing platform at a continuously fully packed station like Thane will not be easy, the central railway had literally geared up for military-level preparations for the 63-hour block with multiple dress rehearsals and dry runs to construct a platform within the limited few hours.


The entire widened portion of the platform will be built with 785 blocks similar to Lego which have already been aligned, assembled and laid out at Mulund. They were ferried in a special train of military wagons after the tracks at Thane station were shifted. These military wagons have been designed to carry military battle tanks.
