According to PI G L Kamble of Badlapur (W) police station, the incident took place yesterday following which 24-year-old Ravindra Joshi was arrested.

Police said the accused was jobless and used to pick up quarrel with the victim (Srikanth Joshi) frequently over petty issues and domestic problems prompting the mother and sister to move out and live separately. Ravindra allegedly roughed up his father in the wee hours of Saturday after an altercation and then dragged him down from the staircase of his house resulting in his death on the spot, they said.

A case was registered against him under Section 302 (murder) and 210 (fraudulently obtaining decree for sum not due) of the IPC after a complaint was filed by his neighbours. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigations are on.
