Senior executive, wife killed in accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

In yet another tragic accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, a top-level manager with Bajaj Auto and his wife were killed, while their two children suffered grievous injuries, on Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened after the car in which they were traveling hit the median of the e-way at Malavli, which is around 60 km from Pune. The family was returning from Mumbai to Pune. The executive has been identified as Amrut Kumar Rath.

Rath and his wife Padmaja, both in their 40s, were admitted to Lokmanya Hospital in Nigdi, but succumbed to injuries. Their daughter Adisha (18) and son Alman (10) are in the ICU of the hospital.

It has been learnt that the family resides at Wakad. In the evening, the Nigdi police sent the bodies for post-mortem to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital.
