While being questioned for the murder case of Sheena Bora, her boyfriend Rahul Mukerjea had told the police that after Sheena disappeared in 2012, he continued to get text messages from her phone, claiming she had left him for someone else and had moved to the US. Cops are now trying to investigate who sent those messages to Rahul.

Sources told mid-day that the texts had allegedly been sent by her mother Indrani Mukerjea (one of the main accused in the murder investigation) or by someone else at her behest. Cops are also currently investigating whether it was Sheena’s brother, Mikhail, who was sending the messages under pressure from Indrani.

mid-day had earlier reported that cops had asked Rahul why he hadn’t continued searching for Sheena (‘Cops to Sheena’s boyfriend: Why didn’t you try harder to find her?’, August 29). Rahul had mentioned that he had got texts from Sheena saying she didn’t want to communicate with him.

However, there were no phone calls. Because of this, he was still suspicious and had even tried to inform the police, but Indrani allegedly foiled that attempt as well (‘Indrani foiled family’s attempts to file missing complaint for Sheena with Worli police’, mid-day, August 27).

Cops also said that after Sheena went missing, Indrani would tell everyone she had moved to the US with her new boyfriend and that she did not want to keep in touch with anyone.
