A teenager trio from Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune has been booked for posting abusive and intimidating videos on social media. Two women, aged 18, were arrested and later released on bail in the case while cops are looking for the third accused, a man. The accused women claimed they made such videos to get more followers and thus get a blue tick.

The trio used the handle Thergaon QueenN to post videos wherein they were seen abusing people, calling them names and even giving death threats. Due to these contents, Pimpri-Chinchwad police’s social media cell were keeping a close watch on the account.

A case was filed on January 29 against Sakshi Shrishrimal, Sakshi Kashyap and Kunal Kamble at Wakad police station under sections 294 (obscene act), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. Soon after, cops nabbed the two women, both students, from their homes.

“We took their custody and told them about the offences they committed. They confessed and said they did not know the acts were criminal,” said Zone 2 DCP Anand Bhoite. He added, “The team carried out technical analysis, arrested the accused and seized their devices.” Dr Vivek Muglikar, senior inspector, Wakad police station, said, “We have counselled the accused and released them on bail. We are also trying to track the other accused.

He added “The accused did not know the gravity of their acts. They were trying to get more followers and a blue tick. Their videos have been liked by thousands of users, encouraging the trio to shoot more such videos.”
