However, in his complaint to the Navghar Police he alleged that he was called to Rajani’s office and threatened by her son Namit and two others, who asked him to withdraw the tender.

On December 13, an FIR was registered against Namit, Manoj Jadhav and Govind Jadhav under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 365 (kidnapping), 385 (extortion), 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 504 (intentional insult with intent to breach of peace, 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Cops immediately arrested Manoj. Since the registration of FIR, Namit got married and performed all the rituals. Till Friday evening, Navghar cops failed to trace him. mid-day tried to contact Corporator Rajani, but she said she was busy in a meeting and disconnected the call.

Since mid-day published the report related to the alleged kidnapping and extortion, the cops have remained tightlipped over the matter. Senior Inspector of Navghar Police Sunil Kamble was on leave while DCP (Zone VII) Prashant Kadam refused to speak on the issue.
