Two teenaged girls were rescued from Bhiwandi, after police busted a prostitution racket. The raid was carried out on Wednesday night at Kalher lodge on the Thane-Bhiwandi road after which lodge manager Pappu Yadav (19) and pimp Jyoti Madyul (34) were placed under arrest, PI Sakheel Shaikh said.

The rescued girls are 16 and 18 years old, and one of them is a Bangladeshi national. Both of them are lodged with the women welfare department, Shaikh said. The police also recovered Rs 76,652 cash during the raid.

A case under sections 370 (buying or disposing of any person), 370A (exploitation of a trafficked person), 372 (selling minor) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 4,8 and 16 of The Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) and sections 3,4,5, and 7 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) has been registered with the Narpoli police station, Bhiwandi division.
