Locals say despite complaints to ward office, issue persists; BMC team visited the site but work to fix it yet to start
Local residents said they complained to the ward office and to the civic headquarters, but they are still receiving filthy water
Around 100 to 120 families living in Juhu Koliwada have been receiving contaminated water for the past month. Despite complaints to the local ward office and on social media posts tagging the civic body, there has been no progress.

While the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) claimed there was a significant reduction in water contamination, the corporation receives around 2,000 complaints a year regarding this.
“We have been getting contaminated water for the past one month. We informed the corporation, following which a BMC team visited on November 2 and told us that another team will come, but no one has come and the issue remains unresolved,” said Santana D’Souza, a resident of Juhu Koliwada.
Another resident told mid-day that there is a drainage line in the area that usually overflows and there are many encroachments on the gutter, due to which no one comes to clean it. The resident added that there may be a leakage in the water pipeline in that area, leading to filthy water.
Larson Fernandes, another resident, said, “I tweeted about the issue on November 17, and received a response from the corporation that they will inform the department concerned. But the people are still getting filthy water.”
Anish Makwana, local corporator, told mid-day, “I got to know about this issue two days ago. I informed the local ward office, and the BMC team came on Saturday. They will find the leakage with a camera and fix it, but it will take two days.”
