Osho's will: HC raps Pune police for slow probe

The Bombay High Court yesterday rapped the Pune police for the delay in probing the FIR over the alleged forging of the signature of Osho guru Rajneesh, who died in 1990, in his will, after the complainant filed a plea seeking transfer of the case to the CBI.

The court directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police to supervise the probe and directed the investigating officer to remain present in the court on the next date of hearing on August 12.

Yogesh Thakker, who claims to be a disciple of Osho guru Rajneesh since 1979, alleged in his PIL that the spiritual guru’s signature was forged in his will by the trustees of the Osho International Foundation.

According to Thakker, the trustees allegedly transferred money from the trust to private companies owned by them.

In 2012, Thakker wrote a letter to Pune police commissioner following which an FIR was lodged against the trustees in 2013, but so far no progress has been made.

Following this, Thakker approached the high court seeking transfer of the case to the CBI.

A division bench of justices N H Patil and P D Naik was yesterday informed by the police that in 2014, the will in dispute was sent to handwriting experts for verification but the report is yet to be received.
