Mumbai saw a rise in new Covid-19 cases but the test positivity rate continued to dip on Friday along with the number of fatalities. On Monday, the city had recorded the second wave’s lowest daily cases and fatalities, post which there was marginal rise for consecutive days. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 285 new cases were registered along with 4 deaths in Mumbai.


The city’s test positivity rate saw a dip and was 0.76%. While on August 10, it recorded the second wave’s lowest TPR with 0.75%, on Thursday it was 0.77%. The doubling rate improved and was 1,853 days on Friday. 


Of the 4 deaths, 2 patients had comorbidities, 3 deaths were in the age group over 60 years and 1 death was reported between 40years-60 years. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 261 people recovered and were discharged on Friday. 


The state’s Covid-19 cases saw a significant rise as 6,686 were registered on Friday. The Covid-19 fatalities of the state however saw a dip as 158 deaths were reported. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.1 per cent as 5,861 people recovered and got discharged on Friday. Currently the state has 63,004 active cases.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported 771 cases including cases from Mumbai. 

Raigad has second highest cases

Apart from Mumbai, Raigad with 135 reported the maximum new cases in MMR followed by Panvel with 65 cases. Thane  reported 57 new cases while Navi Mumbai saw 49 cases and Vasai-Virar reported 23 cases each on Friday. 

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 21 Covid-19 fatalities on Friday. Ulhasnagar saw eight deaths, highest in MMR followed by Kalyan-Dombivli with five deaths. While Vasai-Virar reported four deaths, Navi Mumbai reported  three deaths and Thane saw 1 death.
