“BEST follows its mantra of Pudhe Chala [move forward], by which it has modernised its services and fleet over the years. Furthermore, BEST has made commuting flexible by introducing tap to pay smart cards, super saver plans, and is compliant with the National Common Mobility Card,” said Minister Aaditya Thackeray who launched the app.
Apart from fully transitioning to alternate fuel-powered buses by 2027, BEST will also expand its fleet to 10,000, he said. BEST said prices are now as low as Rs 1.99 per trip under the new flexible plans that start from one day to 84 days, and from 2 trips up to 150 trips.
Plan for hydrogen-run buses
Thackeray said that the BEST plans to adopt environmentally friendly hydrogen. “We are looking now to increase double-decker buses and induct hydrogen fuel buses into the fleet. Apart from this, from our district committee, we are committed to financially supporting BEST for better bus stops and illumination in dark streets for public safety,” he said.
