The Taloja police in Navi Mumbai have booked a man and his son for allegedly killing an 18-year-old boy at their house. According to the police, the prime accused’s daughter was alone at home and had called the deceased, her boyfriend, to meet her there. The girl’s brother arrived home and after receiving no response to his knocking at the door, forced it open and found the two together. He then called his father, and both of them assaulted the teen with an iron shovel and other items.

According to the police, the complainant, Maina Khatun Ali Shaikh, 28, a resident of Patilwadi in Panvel, said the incident occurred around 3.30 pm on Sunday. She claimed that the deceased Samir Abdul Shaikh, was her nephew. “Samir’s friend Aliya Yusuf Shaikh called him over to her house. Her brother Tahir returned home around the same time and as no one answered the door, he broke it open and entered. He saw Samir and Aliya together and got furious. He contacted his father Yusuf who also reached home. Tahir assaulted Samir with an iron shovel and Yusuf assaulted him with a koyta, leading to his death. He suffered serious injuries on his head, back, and body, leading to his death,” Maina Khatun said in her statement to the police.

Maina Khatun also told the police that when she tried to stop the duo from assaulting Samir, she too was threatened and assaulted.

“We have arrested Tahir, 26, while the father is absconding. We have formed a team to trace him. Both are labourers working with a Taloja-based firm,” said an officer from Taloja police station.

The Taloja police have registered a case under Sections 302 (punishment for murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. “The body of the deceased was sent to a civic hospital for a post-mortem and then handed over to the parents. Tahir claims that they committed the act in a moment of rage,” the officer added.
