A 46-year-old man was arrested by Navi Mumbai police in Maharashtra for possessing mephedrone, a synthetic party drug worth approximately Rs 5.2 lakh, as per official reports on Saturday.

According to a report in PTI, acting on received intelligence, the police searched Safhi Ahmed Iqbal Ahmed near the Kharghar crematorium on Thursday afternoon. During the inspection, he was found with 52 grams of mephedrone, commonly known as 'meow meow', valued at around Rs 5.2 lakh. The report quoted officials saying, Ahmed has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In another incident, Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell recovered MD drugs and hydroponic weed from the Dharavi and Dahisar areas of Mumbai, with an approximate international market value of Rs 5 crore. Two individuals, including a Nigerian national, were arrested in connection with the case, a report in ANI stated.
A 26-year-old, Shahrukh Shaikh, was apprehended from Matunga Labor Camp in Dharavi, where 4 kg 740 grams of hydroponic weed were seized. A Nigerian national in Kandivali was arrested at his residence. Both face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and will appear in court. Officials are investigating potential links related to the case, the report added.
Meanwhile, the police in Palghar district arrested a 39-year-old Nigerian national after they recovered cocaine valued at Rs 3 lakh. They were acting on a credible tip-off. The police then intercepted Yao Amed Raymond at Hanuman Nagar in Nalasopara on Thursday night, the report stated. A subsequent search revealed 30 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of about Rs 3 lakh.
Cocaine, a potent drug known for illegal recreational use, has the potential for addiction. Senior Inspector Pramod Badakh of Mira Bhayander Vasai-Virar Police's Crime Unit 3 stated that a case has been registered against Raymond under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the report added.
Earlier this month, the Mumbai Crime Branch detained a man with 8 kg of high-quality charas worth Rs 2.4 crore from Mumbra.
