On Wednesday, Nallasopara-based Tulinj police had found the decomposed body of Tiwari from the drain behind his school.

Belief
According to police officials, Tiwari’s mother Manju believes in tantrik rituals and Rajbar used to warn her that the family would get into big trouble. The woman used to take money from them to ‘ward it off’.

Tiwari’s father Manoj said, “My son was innocent. On Sunday, he was kidnapped from near our residence. I received a ransom call and was threatened to not inform the police. But I immediately informed the police and registered a kidnapping case at Tulinj police station.”

His mother Manju said, “I was in contact with tantrik Rajbar, who has conducted rituals at my house many a times. Rajbar always used to give hints about upcoming troubles for our family and we trusted her.

A few days back, she told us we would be in big trouble and that she could save us. She demanded Rs 5 lakh from us, but we didn’t give it to her. We suspect she and her colleagues are behind this.”

However, the police have not yet arrested any of the accused. When asked the reason for this, they refused to reveal it. Tiwari’s parents allege that had the police taken the case seriously, their son could have been saved.

The family also claimed to have given the suspected accused’s name to the police on the same day, but say cops did not take them into custody.

Cop speak
Palghar-based Additional Superintendent of Police K Kokate said, “In 24 hours, we will arrest them. It’s a clear case of murder and we are waiting for the post-mortem report from J J Hospital.”
