After witnessing a downward trend in the test positivity rate (TPR), Mumbai saw a rise in the figure on Sunday along with an increase in the daily cases as well. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 265 new cases and a TPR of 0.71 per cent were reported. The city reported two deaths. Both the deceased had comorbidities.


While one of the deceased was between 40 and 60 years of age, the other was above 60 years. The city’s doubling rate dipped further and was 2,026 days on Sunday. The recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 259 people were discharged after full recovery. The state saw a marginal dip in fresh cases but a significant fall in the COVID-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 956 cases were reported along with 18 deaths across the state.

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 966 people were discharged after full recovery on Sunday. The state has 12,191 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal dip in new cases. As per the state report, 439 cases were reported in the MMR, including the ones from Mumbai. 

After Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 38. It was followed by Navi Mumbai, which reported 34 cases. While Kalyan-Dombivili Corporation reported 25 cases, 14 cases were registered in Panvel. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 16 deaths. Raigad reported 11 deaths, the highest in MMR. Kalyan-Dombivli saw five deaths.
