Mumbai’s new cases and TPR rise marginally

While the deaths in the city stayed constant, both new cases and fatalities in Maharashtra rose; cases in the MMR, however, saw a drop

The city saw a marginal rise in new cases along with the test positivity rate on Sunday. While the daily cases remained above 200, the city’s TPR was at 0.64 and the number of deaths was the same. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, there were 217 new cases along with four deaths. 


Three of the deceased had comorbidities. While one of the deceased was in the age group of 40 years-60 years, the other three deceased were above 60 years of age.


The doubling rate dipped and was 2,658 days on Sunday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 246 people recovered and were discharged on Sunday.

The state saw a significant rise in new cases and COVID-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 832 cases were reported along with 33 deaths across the state. 

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 841 recovered and got discharged on Sunday. Currently the state has 8,193 active cases. 

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also  saw a marginal drop in new cases. As per the state report, 367 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai. 

Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 35 new cases. It was followed by Navi Mumbai which reported 23 cases.

While Kalyan-Dombivli saw 10 cases, Vasai-Virar reported 21 cases.  Raigad saw 11 and Panvel had 9 cases. 

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 16 deaths. Raigad reported 13 deaths, highest in MMR followed by two deaths in Thane Municipal Corporation and one death in Mira-Bhayandar.
