Mumbai saw a significant drop in both fresh Covid cases and test positivity rate (TPR) on Thursday and reported one death. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 230 new cases were reported while the TPR was 0.59 per cent. The deceased had comorbidities and was above 60 years of age.


The city witnessed zero deaths for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic on October 17. The doubling rate marginally improved and was 2,187 days on Thursday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, as 204 people were discharged after full recovery on Thursday. 


The state saw a marginal drop in new cases along with a dip in Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 963 cases were reported along with 24 deaths across the state. Maharashtra’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 972 were discharged after full recovery on Thursday. The state has 11,732 active cases.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal drop in new cases. As per the state report, 400 cases were reported in the MMR, including those from Mumbai.  After Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivili reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 32, followed Navi Mumbai, which reported 28 cases.

While the Thane Municipal Corporation reported 26 cases, 20 cases were registered in Vasai-Virar. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 11 deaths.  Kalyan-Dombivili reported five deaths, highest in the MMR. While Thane reported three deaths, Vasai-Virar and Navi Mumbai saw one death each.
