The city witnessed a marginal rise in the Covid test positivity rate (TPR) on Tuesday but it remained below 1 per cent. It also reported a significant rise in daily cases but saw only one death due to the infection. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 279 new cases were reported and the TPR was 0.88 per cent. On Saturday, the new cases were 176 and TPR 0.69 per cent. The deceased had comorbidities and was above 60 years of age.

The state saw a significant rise in both new cases and Covid fatalities. As per the state health department report, 982 cases were reported along with 27 deaths.
Maharashtra’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 1,293 people were discharged after full recovery on Tuesday. Currently the state has 13,311 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal rise in new cases. As per the state report, 460 cases were reported in the MMR, including the ones from Mumbai.
After Mumbai, the Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 39, followed by Panvel, which reported 30 cases. While Kalyan-Dombivili Corporation reported 22 cases, 20 cases were registered in Navi Mumbai. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered one death in Thane.
