The test positivity rate (TPR) in the city increased marginally while the daily Covid-19 cases dropped below 200 once again. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) report, Mumbai on Friday recorded 192 fresh Coronavirus infections and the TPR stood at 0.52 per cent, up from 0.49 per cent registered the day before. The civic body confirmed one death from the viral infection on Friday. The deceased had comorbidities and was above the age of 60, stated the BMC report.

The doubling rate continued to deteriorate and was recorded at 2,603 days on Friday. However, the city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, with 183 more patients being discharged after full recovery. According to the state health department’s report, the number of daily cases declined significantly to 695 from 789 registered the day before, and the Covid-19 fatalities rose to 12 from seven in 24 hours. But, the case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent.


On Friday, 631 Covid-19 patients returned to their homes after full recovery. Currently, the state has 6,534 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a significant dip in new cases. According to the state health department’s report, the region registered 327 cases, including the ones in Mumbai.

At 26, Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR after Mumbai, followed by the Thane Municipal Corporation with 20 infections. Kalyan-Dombivli and Panvel reported 12 fresh Covid-19 cases each, Vasai-Virar 10 and Raigad seven. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered four deaths from novel Coronavirus, all from Kalyan-Dombivli.
