Mumbai: Vaccination trend reverses, civic centres see more beneficiaries

Out of the total of 1,13,135 vaccines on Tuesday, 13,505 were given to senior citizens, 16,074 were given to those aged 45 to 59 years and 80,932 were given to those aged 18 to 44 years, 331 were students and 27 were lactating mothers.

The trend of private hospitals administering the maximum number of vaccines reversed on Tuesday after the government started free vaccines for those aged 18 to 44 years. Out of 1.13 lakh vaccines administered on Tuesday, more than 78,000 were given by civic- and government-run centres. 


Starting Wednesday, the civic centres will start vaccinations for those aged 18 to 30 years. On Tuesday, 50,929 people aged 30 to 44 years received their first dose in civic and government centres. On Monday, when the civic body started vaccination for those aged 30-44 years, civic-run centres administered 44,384 vaccines, out of which 22,120 were given to people in this age group. Out of 1.13 lakh doses, 34,308 were administered in private centres, of which 29,296 were given to the 18 to 44 years age group.
