A fire broke out at a shop in New India Market at Khairani Road, Sakinaka, Kurla West, on Tuesday morning around 10.37 am which was brought under control by 12.54pm and was reported to be extinguished by 2 pm. 


Three people suffered fairly severe burns. As per the doctors, Tilak Ram, 17, had 40 to 50 per cent burns, Rafik Ahmed, 40, had 25 to 30 per cent burns and Amit Kumar, 38, had 50 to 60% burns. 


The fire broke out at a godown of scrap tins of paint in a 500 square feet space. The fire was confined to the electrical wiring, paint tins and other electrical installations at the shop. After receiving the call, five fire engines and five jumbo tankers were rushed to the spot.
