In a tragic development regarding the boat sinking incident at Devachiwadi, Varsova Gaon, Varsova, Andheri West, a third missing person has been located deceased.

The incident was first reported on August 6, 2023, at 10:37 AM, involving a boat sinking at the mentioned location. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) reported the incident.

In the latest update on August 8, 2023, at 09:17 AM, it was informed that the third missing individual from the boat sinking incident has been found at Versova Chaupati. The individual was taken to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali.

Dr. Nilesh Jadhav, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Kandivali Shatabdi Hospital, confirmed that Ushani Bhandari, a 22-year-old female, was declared brought dead on the previous day at 8:00 PM.

Earlier in January this year, a fishing boat capsized after hitting a rock in the Arabian Sea off the Palghar coast in Maharashtra. Officials had said that all 15 people onboard were rescued by fishermen on other boats in the vicinity.

Earlier in May 2022, a cargo boat sank into the Arabian sea off Ballard Pier in south Mumbai, and three persons on board were rescued soon after they jumped off when it started sinking.

"Goods was loaded into the cargo boat at the Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT). After that, the boat went to the Ballard Pier nearby and the stock was unloaded and filled into a big ship there. Just as the process of unloading got over, water started entering the cargo boat and three persons on board jumped into the sea out of fear," an official had said. However, the staff from another boat nearby rescued the trio, he said. The cargo boat later sank, the police official said, adding that the statements of the three rescued persons, who are local residents, were recorded.

In May 2023, 22 people, majority of them women and children, died when a double-decker recreational boat capsized while on a boat ride near an estuary close to the Thoovaltheeram beach in the Tanur area of Malappuram district in Kerala.

The incidents of boat sinking have been reported across India and are a major concern among the masses.
