Mumbai shows slight rise in COVID-19 cases

The state recorded less than 2,000 COVID-19 cases while the city reported less than 400 on Tuesday. The state recorded 1,927 cases, taking the total tally of Maharashtra to 20.30 lakh. The city saw 334 fresh cases while the Thane Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan Dombivli corporations recorded 54, 43 and 75 cases respectively in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. 


The total number of COVID-related deaths recorded in the state was 30. The state’s recovery rate now stands at 95.37 per cent with 4,011 patients discharged on Tuesday. Mumbai’s recovery rate stands at 94 per cent while the doubling rate is improving and currently is at 565 days. The city’s daily growth rate in the last one week is just 0.12 per cent as the total count now stands at 3.09 lakh cases. The city has 5,528 ongoing cases.

The mortality rate of the state was 2.52 per cent till date, there have been 51,139 COVID-related deaths across the state. The number of deaths due to other causes in the state was 1,244. These  are the cases where patients were positive and tested negative but later died due to other complications. The state saw 1.47 crore laboratory samples collected out of which 20.30 lakh tested positive with 13.80 per cent positivity ratio. 

Mumbai led in the state with 7 deaths. However, barring Mumbai, Thane and Panvel recorded one case each taking the total of MMR to 9 cases. Civic officials said out of the 7 deaths, 6 patients were suffering from other ailments and 6 cases were senior citizens.
