Though city saw improvement in doubling and recovery rates, fatalities continue to remain high

Saturday’s COVID-19 stats for Mumbai showed a welcome dip in new positive cases and weekly growth rate. The city also reported a significant improvement in doubling and recovery rates. However, the fatalities continued to be on the higher side, with 90 deaths being reported.

On Saturday, Mumbai recorded 3,908 new COVID-19 positive cases. The doubling rate of Mumbai is 96 days and recovery rate of Mumbai district now stands at 89 per cent. The city currently has 59,318 active COVID-19 positive cases.
Of the 90 deaths reported on Saturday, 53 patients had co-morbidities.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra recorded 63,282 new cases and 802 deaths on Saturday, with a case fatality rate of 1.49.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also reported a slight drop with 10,581 cases.
Navi Mumbai and Panvel recorded its worst ever COVID-19 surge last month. In Panvel, deaths rose by 571 per cent, whereas daily cases witnessed an increase of 171 per cent, compared to March. In Navi Mumbai too, deaths increased by 252 per cent, whereas daily cases reported a hike of 161 per cent.
