Mumbai sees a major dip in daily Covid-19 cases

Maharashtra, too, sees significant drop in new Covid cases at 3,626

After recording a rise in daily Covid infections on Sunday, the city saw a significant drop on Monday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, the city registered 379 new cases. However, the test positivity rate (TPR) increased to 1.20 per cent, the highest in the past one month.

Mumbai reported five deaths on Monday. Four had comorbidities, two were above the age of 60 years and three were between 40 and 60 years. The doubling rate continued to decrease and was 1,290 days on Monday.

The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 417 people were discharged after full recovery.

The state’s daily Covid cases saw a significant drop on Monday and dipped below 4,000. As per the state health department report, 3,626 new cases were reported. The state also saw a significant drop in the number of deaths at 37. Maharashtra’s TPR was 11.8 per cent and recovery rate 97.09 per cent.

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 5,988 people were discharged after full recovery on Monday. The state has 47,695 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) witnessed a significant drop in new cases on Monday.

As per the state report, 728 cases were reported in the MMR, including the ones fr om Mumbai.

Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai saw 55 cases followed by Thane Municipal Corporation with 52 cases, Panvel 42 cases and Thane 44 cases. Vasai-Virar saw 37 cases and Mira-Bhayandar 19 cases.

The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered one Covid death on Monday. One death was reported in Navi Mumbai.
