Mumbai saw a significant dip in new Covid-19 cases on Monday at less than 400. The test positivity rate remained the same as Sunday. However, the Covid-19 fatalities saw a marginal rise. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 377 new cases were reported on Monday along with seven deaths.


The TPR was 1.22%. Mumbai’s TPR dipped below 1%, a first in the second wave on July 29. On August 19, the city recorded the second wave’s lowest TPR at 0.53% after which the graph has been gradually going up. The doubling rate dipped and was at 1,189 days on Monday.


While five of the deceased had comorbidities, one deceased was in the age group 40 years to 60 years, six were in the age group above 60 years. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 334 people recovered and were discharged on Monday. 


The state’s Covid-19 cases saw a significant dip on Monday as they fell below the 3,000 mark.  As per the state health department report, 2,432 cases were reported. The state saw a marginal drop in the number of deaths as 32 deaths were reported. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 2,895 people recovered and got discharged on Monday. Currently the state has 37,036 active cases. Like the state, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a significant dip in cases on Monday.

As per the state report, 706 cases were reported in MMR including cases from Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum cases in MMR with 66 new cases. It was followed by Raigad with 59 cases. While Navi Mumbai saw 36 cases, Thane witnessed 19 cases and Mira-Bhayandar had 37 cases. Vasai-Virar had 22 cases and Panvel 38 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered zero deaths on Monday.
