Mumbai registers marginal drop in daily Covid-19 cases

The number of daily Covid-19 cases in the city dropped on Sunday to 213 from 219 registered the day before. The test positivity rate (TPR) remained the same, at 0.54 per cent, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s report. 


The city registered the second wave’s lowest TPR, at 0.28 per cent, on December 1.


The number of deaths declined by three, as the BMC confirmed one fatality on Sunday. The deceased had comorbidities and was in the age group of 40-59 years. 
The doubling rate improved marginally and was recorded at 3,055 days. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, as 210 more patients recovered and were discharged on Sunday.  


Unlike the city, the state registered a significant dip in new Covid-19 infections as well as fatalities. 

According to the health department report, Maharashtra reported 707 cases and seven deaths.

The number of new cases of novel Coronavirus rose marginally in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). According to the state health department’s report, 364 cases were reported in the region, including the ones in Mumbai. 

31 cases in Navi Mumbai

Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR, after Mumbai, at 38, followed by 31 in Navi Mumbai.

Kalyan-Dombivli reported 26 new Covid-19 cases, Vasai-Virar and Panvel 13 each, and Raigad eight. There was no newly confirmed Covid-19 death in the MMR, besides the one in Mumbai.
