Mumbai Police gets 10 All-Terrain Vehicles for beach patrol

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray flagged off 10 All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) at Girgaum Chowpatty on Monday. The vehicles will be used by Mumbai Police  as part of their beach patrolling across Mumbai.

All 10 vehicles will be distributed to the five major beaches across Mumbai which includes Girgaum, Dadar, Juhu, Versova and Gorai. "We have been doing foot patrolling on all the beaches as part of our security protocols but these vehicles will bring more vigilance at these places," said Vishwas Nangre Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police, law and order.

The Mumbai Police in its official statement has said that the ATVs will be used for patrolling of beaches in the city of Mumbai. The petrol engine-powered ATVs are capable of reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph over sandy surfaces. The vehicles have been donated to Mumbai Police by Reliance Foundation after due approval of the Government of Maharashtra.

The following people were present at the occasion: Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister, Minister of Tourism and Environment, Guardian Minister of Mumbai City, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Director General of Police Maharashtra State, Commissioner of Police Mumbai, Mayor Mumbai, Administration Head of Reliance Foundation, among others.
