Part of a building near Bhayander station collapsed on Thursday morning after a heavy spell of rain earlier in the day and throughout Wednesday. The incident has left two individuals injured.

"The front part of the building, which had a lot of shops, collapsed. The building had been emptied by the municipal corporation four days ago as it was not in good condition," said Maruti Gaikwad, Disaster Management Head, Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation.

He said that the two injured sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The incident left behind a large pile of debris and damaged an auto-rickshaw.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident that occurred on Wednesday, a five-year-old girl died after a portion of the third floor slab of a five-story building collapsed early Wednesday.
