“Mumbai witnessed daytime temperatures above 36Celcius—two degrees above normal—for as many as 16 days, and 35C on the other days,” says Rajesh Kapadia of Vagaries of Weather, a popular weather blog. October nights in the city were two degrees above normal, and scanty rain of 11 mm and 28 mm was recorded in Santacruz and Colaba respectively.
The actual onset of winter in the city is not expected before Diwali. On Friday, the Santacruz observatory recorded 36.8C, whereas the Colaba one recorded 35.5C. Parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, are likely to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. Sindhudurg and Kolhapur are on yellow alert for November 4 and 5.
