The transformation of Dadar station into one cohesive unit is now official, with the city's railways formally deciding to renumber the platforms. Starting from Western Railway's platform 1 in the west to Central Railway's platform 8 in the extreme east, a common and continuous platform numbering system will be implemented, effective from December 9, 2023. mid-day had initially reported on the possibility of this change back in May 2023.

According to official sources, Western Railway currently has seven platforms numbered from west 1 to 7, while Central Railway also has seven platforms, numbered from 1 to 7. The renumbering will primarily impact Central Railway station platforms, where platform one will become platform eight, and so on. “The revised platform numbers for Dadar station will be as follows: the existing platform number 1 of Central Railway will become platform no. 8, while platform number 2 has been removed for platform widening.

Subsequently, platform 3 will transform into platform 9, platform 4 will become 10, platform 5 will be renumbered as 11, platform 6 will change to 12, and platforms 7 and 8 will become 13 and 14, respectively,” as confirmed by a Central Railway official. “The idea is to establish a seamless numbering system from 1 to 14, enhancing clarity for passengers and newcomers alike, ultimately creating a unified Dadar station premises,” the official said.
