Authorities say camera trap has captured a picture of the suspected animal

On Saturday, the Thane forest department and Sanjay Gandhi National park teams continued work to trace and capture the suspected leopard responsible for a spate of attacks in Aarey Milk Colony. A total of three cages were installed on Saturday evening.

Sources from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) told mid-day that the suspected leopard was captured on one of the camera traps installed in Aarey.
“From Friday evening till Saturday evening, a total of four cages were setup in Aarey Milk Colony, but no leopard walked into them. However, one of the camera traps captured a picture of the suspected leopard. Sanjay Gandhi National park and Thane forest Department officials are taking all the possible measures to capture the suspected animal,” said a Forest Department official.
Sources said that the leopard that was captured in the early hours of Friday was not the animal behind the attacks. Since August 31, six people have been injured in leopard attacks.
