Mumbai: Lactating mothers can walk in today for Covid-19 vaccination

The civic body has allowed walk-in facilities for various age groups on Wednesday. Lactating mothers and senior citizens can take the first dose of Covishield, while those in 45-59 bracket can take their second dose.


With the 45+ category given the liberty to walk in, a total of 18,218 citizens, including 6,355 senior citizens and 10,701 citizens between 45 and 59 years, took the first dose at civic-run centres. Another 1,078 citizens between 45-59 years and 10,051 citizens between 18-44 years were administered vax 15 private centres. Of the total 34,265 doses administered, 31,305 were first-timers.

The BMC has allowed lactating mothers to walk in to vaccination centres on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. As per the instructions issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on May 19, breastfeeding mothers are also allowed to be vaccinated against Covid-19. They are given the vaccine after showing required medical documents apart from mentioning the date and place of delivery.
