Ward officials along with NGO Doctors For You have kept beds ready for parents so that they can be with their kids
K West ward officials along with NGO Doctors For You have set up play areas for children at the Covid-19 Care Centre 2 in Chandivli
The city’s K West ward has not only started preparing for the third wave, but they are also making all possible efforts to ensure that enough beds are available for children and their isolation period does not become uncomfortable. For this, the ward officials along with NGO Doctors For You have set up play areas and beds for parents as it would be difficult to keep kids in isolation for long without them.

The K West ward started its Covid-19 Care Centre 2 at an SRA building in Chandivli, which has 280 rooms with 700 beds, last year. “Initially the centre was only for isolation and patients who have mild symptoms. It did not have any oxygen facility, but during the second wave we added oxygen beds. We have already started preparing for the third wave, and this time we won’t face any oxygen shortage. We are focusing more on paediatric rooms,” said Vishwas Mote, assistant commissioner, K West ward.

“We have converted 140 beds into paediatric ones with help from Doctors For You, who have been providing us with doctors and paramedical staff. Out of the 140 beds, 40 have already been opened, and the rest will be functional as and when required.” added Mote.
Till date, Doctors For You has provided more then 10,000 doctors and paramedic staff across India. “As there is a shortage of doctors in Mumbai, we got staff from other states, including Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. In K West ward, 21 doctors, 57 paramedical staff and 12 hygiene technicians are working,” said Dr Sanket Shah, secretary, Doctors For You. Shah further said, “Children need special attention, we can’t keep them in isolation for long without their parents, so we have set up play areas and beds for parents as well.”
