One of India's oldest existing stations, Byculla, a listed Grade1 Heritage Building in the city's heritage list, will soon get a facelift following an initiative by Nana Chudasama and Shaina NCs 'I Love Mumbai'. The restoration of the station building was discussed yesterday by leading conservation architect Abha Narain Lambah and Minal Bajaj, trustee of the Bajaj group along with Shaina NC, trustee of I Love Mumbai.

"The restoration work will begin in a month and involves the station façade, the stone building, the wrought iron railings and designs," said Shaina NC to mid-day. Byculla is an important place as the elite English guests on the first passenger train of India between Boree Bunder and Thane had boarded from Byculla station in 1853. At the time, the station was a small structure and the huge station premise and the building that we see today was completed opened on July 1, 1892 and has been there since then.
