The mishap occurred at Mehta Babu Chawl near Salami hotel after a portion of the ground-plus-three structure crashed on an adjoining structure that had no load-bearing on the ground level.
The impact left five locals injured, while a firefighter who was a part of a team that had been pressed for a search and rescue operation at the site also suffered wounds, said BMC's disaster management cell. Of the five locals, four are being treated at Cooper Hospital. The first person was discharged after first-aid.
The accident comes days after four members of a family were killed in a house collapse in Govandi.
