According to police officials, the accused has been identified as Mohommad Usman Shah (40). He has been allegedly sexually assaulting his female students, aged between seven and 12 years, since 15 days. Police sub-inspector Sachin Sanap from Shivaji Nagar police station said, “According to the complainants, the accused had been assaulting them since a fortnight but the incident came to light when one of the students informed her parents about it. They approached the local police station on the night of February 11 after which we nabbed the accused from his residence on February 12.”

Sanap added, “The girls had been complaining about the incident to their parents since it began, but they thought their daughters were coming up with excuses for not going to the madrasa. However, when we went to the madrassa and inquired with the other students, three more girls came forward.”

The accused has been booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and section 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
