Mumbai: Covid-19 vaccination centres to remain shut on October 2

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared the closure of all government and civic-run Covid Vaccination Centers (CVCs) in Mumbai for Monday, October 2, 2023, in observance of the public holiday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.


"The vaccination drive will recommence starting Tuesday, September 20, 2023. Citizens are urged to cooperate with the BMC administration," stated the BMC official in the press statement.


Meanwhile, on Sunday, 27 patients were discharged in Maharashtra, contributing to a total of 80,22,919 Covid-19 patients successfully recovering until October 1, 2023.


Maharashtra's recovery rate is at 98.18 per cent.

The state reported 15 new cases on Sunday, with no Covid-19-related deaths. The case fatality rate remains at 1.81 per cent.

Among the 8,75,21,379 laboratory samples tested to date, 81,71,616 have tested positive for Covid-19, accounting for 9.34 per cent.

"The current dominant variant of Covid-19 in the state is Omicron XBB.1.16, with a total of 1,733 confirmed cases and 19 reported deaths associated with this variant," the Maharashtra govt official said.

"Since January 1, 2023, there have been 131 Covid-19-related deaths, with 70.99 per cent of these occurring in individuals aged 60 and above. Additionally, 83 per cent of the deceased had comorbidities, while 17 per cent did not have any comorbid conditions," the press release added.
