After recording a dip in daily Covid-19 cases on Saturday, the numbers rose once again on Sunday and the city saw more than 700 cases. However, the test positivity rate (TPR) was below 3 per cent. While the city reported 19 deaths, the state saw 9,361 fresh cases and 190 Covid fatalities on Sunday. Of the total number of deaths, 80 were recorded in the Kolhapur circle.

The city seems to be in the same phase as it was around December-January, when cases were between 500 and 700. It had taken a long time for the cases to come down before the second wave started. As per reports, 28,226 tests were conducted in Mumbai on Sunday, of which 733 were found positive, leading to a TPR of 2.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, 650 patients were discharged after full recovery in the city and it has a total of 14,809 active cases. Of the 19 deaths recorded, 15 patients had comorbidities, nine deaths were of those above 60 years of age, seven deaths were of patients between 40 and 60 years and three of those below 40 years. The recovery rate is steady at 95 per cent and the current doubling rate is 726 days.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported 2,643 new cases on Sunday. Cities like Thane recorded 129 cases, Navi Mumbai 178 and Kalyan-Dombivli 113. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, witnessed eight deaths, out of which three were reported in Navi Mumbai and two in Kalyan-Dombivli.
The state recorded a total of 9,361 fresh infections with Pune circle reporting 2,180 cases and Kolhapur circle 2,823. The number of cases and deaths has increased in the Kolhapur circle over the last month. Kolhapur reported 725 cases and Ratnagiri 761.
A total of 9,101 patients were discharged across Maharashtra after full recovery and the number of active cases stands at 1.32 lakh.
