A sub-inspector of Virar police station recently rescued a 19-year-old broker who went to commit suicide at the railway tracks near Nalasopara station.

As per police sources, the youth, a Malad resident, was working as a broker in the diamond business in the BKC area and had decided to end his life due to loss in the business.

“On Sunday night, his relatives living in Virar received a text message from the 19-year-old stating his decision. They rushed to Virar police station and sought help. Probe revealed the youth had just started as a broker in the diamond business and had suffered a loss of Rs 20,000. This had worried him and he had decided to take the extreme step,” said an officer at Virar police station.
Under the supervision of senior inspector Suresh Varade, sub-inspector Abhijit Tailor, using technical analysis, traced the youth via his mobile location and caught him beside the railway track near Nalasopara railway station around 3.30 am on Monday while he was waiting for the train to commit suicide. “We brought him to the police station, counseled him and then sent him home,” added the officer.
