A 65-year-old man died allegedly after being vaccinated for COVID-19 at a vaccination centre in Andheri on Monday. The incident took place at a private hospital. This is the first case of an alleged death after vaccination in Mumbai. This does not mean the death was due to the procedure.

The third phase of vaccination is underway in the city since last Monday. Out of 3,90,038 beneficiaries who have received the vaccination since January 16, no serious side effects had been reported until now.

The Goregaon resident felt dizzy after being vaccinated. He was admitted to the ICU for treatment around 3.50 pm and died at 5 pm. Mangala Gomare, executive health officer of the BMC said, “The person had heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. The exact cause of death will be known only after the autopsy report.”
