Santa Cruz received 203 mm rain in 24 hours on Saturday morning, the highest this season. But, the city continued to face water cuts as the lake water stock has still not reached 50 per cent. 


According to IMD data, the Santa Cruz observatory recorded 203 mm of rainfall, while the weather station at Colaba recorded 103 mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 am Saturday. As per the IMD forecast the intensity of rain will reduce on Sunday, but the city may receive heavy rainfall at isolated places. 



On Saturday, the lake stock was 47 per cent, the lowest in the last three years. Last year, the lake stock was 88 per cent with five out of seven lakes overflowing by July 22. In 2021, the lake stock was 54 per cent. 


This year, only Tulsi, the smallest lake situated in the city, has filled up three days ago. Tansa Lake filled up 87 per cent and if the rain continues, it may overflow within the next two to three days. The BMC has already imposed a 10 per cent water cut.
